Power of triple filtration!

In my childhood days I used to go to Sivananda Ashram in railway colony, palakkad, Kerala with my grandmother for sapthaham (Seven days reading of Bhagawatham). I used to enjoy listening to Swami Nityananda Saraswathy. At the age of 10 I could understand only the good feel but now I realize he was reputed to hold knowledge in high esteem. We children used to compete with each other to reach the Ashram first, going running first to do seva and to show off that how good children we were. One day I reached one hour earlier with grandma, beating all friends. Swamiji was observing me, may be the pride feeling is not suitable a child of 10 years. I am blessed truly, that was the moment which helped me to shed out the pride from my personality. Swamiji asked grandma to bring me to his room. I touched his feet with pride that the only lucky me! He gave me two Mangoes. Oh no limit for the happiness as I have proof to show to my friends. Guruji asked grandma whether I am studying well. Grandma replied I am very intelligent child and is the school topper always. Guruji was observing me all the time these conversations were going on. Then the discussion went to today’s children’s mindset, path of devotion and the mission of Ashram to help the next generation under the guidance of his guruji Jnanananda Saraswathy. Even if a child wandering in ashram I used to pick up all secret talks of elders and gossip it with friends. Suddenly I interrupted hearing name of Jnanananda swamiji one such ill spoken gossip. I asked Swamiji "Guruji, Do you want to know a secret what I heard about your guruji?" ""Wait child, hold on a minute,"" Nityananda Swamy replied. ""Before you share the secret to me about my guruji, it might be excellent thought to take a minute and clean what you’re going to say. Let us call this ‘triple filter test’ and do it now. The first filter is Truth. Are you sure what you are going to share is truth?" I replied ‘Swamiji, how I can I say, I just heard it when the elders were speaking, I don’t know it is truth or not….’ Nityananda swamy looked at my eyes and said “Good you said the truth, you are pure soul, always keep the purity of speaking truth. As you don’t know the secret is truth or not, it failed in first test of triple filter test. Now, let’s apply the second filter called Goodness. Is the secret you are about to tell me about my guruji is something good?" "Hoomhumm, no, no, it is on the opposite…" I was given action to stop talking. Swamiji continued, "So, the secret you want to share failed the second filter test also. You are sure it is not good, but something bad about my guruji, but you’re not sure it is true or not too.” Swamiji with a smile continued “Now as both test failed let us do the third test, the filter of Usefulness. Child, the secret is going to be useful for me?" I was looking at swamy and replied "No way, you will be angry to hear." Swamiji said “ child, it failed all the three filters. ( 1) Filter of truth, (2) filter of goodness and (3) filter of usefulness. If the secret you wish to share about my guruji is neither true, nor good, nor even useful, why you to share with me at all?". I felt the impact of his words. He adviced me to do the three filter test every time in life before speaking. I touched his feet before leaving; he kept his hands on my head and did some chanting. The vibes still I feel. The warmth of blessings made my pride melt. The triple filter test, I do always. The power of triple test helps to radiate my true self. Try the triple filter test. It really works. Words have great influence; use them optimistically to Support and to Inspire. I can’t express my gratitude to Swamiji Nityananda Saraswathi in few words. In fact we are all benefited by many spiritual gurus. Most of the whats app messages and facebook posts you share on spirituality you don’t know that we owe to our spiritual gurus. We are supposed to observe the benefits we derive at hearing or reading them and not what they do or don’t. Let us try to remember few of our spiritual gurus in the last two decades.
